(6) Dragged them back in to my external HDD to their original location to replace the original file. I left the Audio, data rate and video size alone. (5) Using AVF Batch Exporter (I found it a lot simpler than HandBrake) I recompressed only the FPS on the files to what they were originally noted in my Excel sheet. I then was able to group the files with the same FPS together and batch them as a group at the same time. (4) Figured out each files FPS with the program MediaInfo and noted them in my Excel sheet. (3) I went to each files location (on my external HDD) and copied them to one folder on my desktop using "Go to Folder." I also added them to a crate in Serato to test after I replace the original files. (2) I copied their locations to an Excel sheet so I could know exactly where to access the files later on. (1) I went through all my show crates in Serato with ME open and had mixemergency.log (I found it easier to use than the Messages window) open to see exactly which video files had frames larger than 30 FPS. This is what I have been doing to correct the issue:

mp4 files from reputable record pools but still find the videos having trouble with ME. I'm slowly learning how codec's work and want to make sure I'm doing this right here. I’d be really interested to hear your thoughts on this and forgive my ignorance, but if it can already be done, I’d like to know how.

The fact that ME can record my output means I can then also use it to more easily create those compilations if I wanted to and in ways that most video editing programs would never let me do. I need to rely more on visuals and graphics, but face the prospect of having to create my own visual compilations first so that the one clip I’m currently allowed to load doesn’t get boring over time.

It would be an enormous help to me as a VJ/DJ who plays the kind of music that doesn’t often come with a video version. I’m sure this is achievable because the sequencing engine, media folder, auto-load and everything else needed is already in place and may just need a bit of tweaking to get it to work in this way. Is this what the step sequencer can already do? If not, could it do it in future? This means that you could still get a lot of variation from the one, short video clip because the effects would change the look and energy of that clip every so often. So for a five minute track of say, 192 bars, you could have up to 24 different video clips or loops launched either randomly or in sequence so that the visuals change whenever the music goes through a major or minor change.Įven better (and I’m saying this as someone who is well aware there is now an effects sequencer but who just hasn’t looked into it properly yet), would be a way to sequence effects over the entire length of the track. What I would like is a way of loading more than one clip to an audio file even going so far as to be able to sequence the clips, and even if that sequence were limited to every 8 or 16 bars for now. This works great if you have a five minute video for a five minute track, but if you’re working with 5-second VJ clips it quickly becomes stale and boring for the both the VJ and the audience. Currently, ME can select a random video from a media folder and auomatically load it to play along with the audio file, in sync to its speed.
